I am a fine arts instructor who has been self-employed for over 20 years.
I do receive a monthly income from investments in addition to my various businesses, however everything is inadequate to cover all the debts left by Margaret Ann Parker. I used the interest on my investments to pay my share of the mortgage, but when Parket abandoned the property I had to begin using the principle. That is now exhausted. If Parker had supplied the signed, notarized waiver giving me full ownership in 1999--as she agreed in court, under oath, to do--I could have refinanced and avoided all these problems. Until I receive that waiver, I cannot sell or rent the property, or even rent out a single room without the fear Parker will file a lawsuit claiming she is entitled to "her share" of the profits.
Over the past five years I have waited with Christian patience for Parker to fulfill her promises, attempted to gain her compliance, and used my savings and stocks to pay her debts. As of March 31, 2005, I have spent $30,428.94.
One of my goals is to spread awareness among the good people of the Christian community that there are people--societal parasites--who are willing and able to take advantage of their charitable natures. Christian groups and churches must look beyond the glib stories they are offered and examine the whole situation before taking any action that may seriously harm someone else.
